After the mall area, we walked up the main street of Via Toledo. This street is lined with various shops, restaurants and some government buildings. This part of town certainly felt more like an urban city and just felt a little bit dirty overall. The other stops we had made previously felt a little more refined and historic, while this reminded me of the streets of Taiwan and other more urban areas.

We were quite hot walking around and so were waiting for a lunch spot. I was hoping to find somewhere indoors that was air conditioned but one of the pizzerias that I wanted to try was only seating outside. We waited until they opened and then took a seat in the covered area for Pizzeria Mattozzi. I guess in the past this was an award winning pizzeria but seems like maybe they started resting on their laurels as overall it was just okay. We each ordered a pizza as I really did want to give it a go in terms of trying napoletana pizza. Looking back, probably should have just split one pizza because I had plans to try pizza at a different place later in the day (and due to the heat we cut our day shorter so time difference between pizzas was only a few hours).

We wanted to get out of the elements so decided to go to the Gallerie d’Italia, an art museum locted in the Banco Di Napoli. This museum is known for its Caravaggio. However when we were there it was on loan to another museum.

Afterward we continued walking around town and I wanted to check out the other pizzeria I had read about previously. We strayed from Via Toledo and walked up the very narrow streets that ran perpendicular to Toledo and also had some incline.

D was still full since we had eaten only a few hours prior so watched me eat a pizza along with an arancini at Pizzeria da Attilio. For drinks though we had a Spritz and tried some Limoncello. The pizza at this place just had a bit of a better taste.

Afterwards we thought about going to see some of the greatest marbles sculptures at the Museo Cappella Sansevero, but tickets were already sold out for the day. Since it was still hot, we decided to head back to the ship and rest.

Next up, Italy and Greece … (here)
